Galápagos Update July 12, 1998

This is a brief interim update. Galapagos is calm on election day and there is free passage for tourists at Baltra and at the National Park. The issue of the airfare being raised by TAME is not resolved so there could be another strike. So far though, there are no significant problems with transportation.

The weather is cooler and cloudy with cool water temperatures. A jacket is recommended for evenings but the daytime temperatures are quite pleasant. There has been some garua so the conditions are definitely returning to normal compared to the previous Niño conditions. Wetsuits are again recommended for diving and snorkeling.

I will post another update with more specifics on July 18.
